I can't believe that two weeks have flown by !! School has been going fairly smoothly. I've rather enjoyed the Grade Eight teachers 'tuning' their students. Quite delightful actually; I spend my time grinning at the back of the room. Finally there are adults that are not treating them with kid gloves ! This past week was my week to clean the kitchen at school, loading and unloading the dishwasher etc and on this past Friday, cooking for Cake Day. I made two Lemon Loaves, two Caraway Seed Cakes and a Butterscotch square. So that's done for another five months !
Last Saturday YS and I went to Wine Club at ED's house. He good nature day wore a kilt and I sewed up a sporam . For the party I made Almond Squirts from the Outlander Kitchen and we brought along some of our Cherry Bounce, both of which people loved ! It was a late night for me so I suffered. Last Sunday !!
The usual sewing, mending and tidying has gone on. Today I am cleaning the oven and kitchen widow having thrown the curtains into the wash. Once the oven is finished,I'll clean the window and that'll be one more thing off my list.
One of our long t I've employees died on unexpectedly on Tuesday. Unexpected perhaps to the family, but she has been ill for so long with all parts of her body failing, that truly, we were not surprised. The funeral is this coming Monday at 11am so we'll scoot out of school to attend and then hustle back. Different people will be covering for others so we don't have to get in a lot of subs. Also on Monday, our 'delinquent' EA is returning half time. I am sure she'll want to go to the funeral too. We're wondering how long she will b e able to last at her assignment this year. Since she cannot do grade 3 math and is in a grade 5 classroom ! The teacher will not be pleased if she continues with her habit of abscences. It will be interesting to watch !
Last weekend we harvested all from the garden except for green beans which are still flowering and producing, the parsnips and the pumpkin. Tomorrow I want to get out and work on my perennial beds. We'll be having stew and an apple crisp with apples from my son's inlaw's trees. I might try and bake another batch of oatcakes as the last lot disappeared very quickly !
Only another couple of books to read and we'll have to take another trip to Value Village ! Lovely fall weather which I hope will last for a long time ! Still no frost !!
